Doodlecharms Cartridge Challenge

Cynthia over at the cricut forum started this challenge. Only one cartridge can be used for the cuts, with the exception of fonts. So she started with Doodlecharms, which I just recieved fro Christmas this year and really haven't played with the cartridge all that much. Well I had a lot of fun making these cards. It's a great challenge you should hop on over to the challenge forum under general chit chat.

I welded two shadow baskets together in Design Studio and then glued the sides, so the insert can slide into the basket.

I used UTEE on the dragonfly, so it really looks like a plastic charm. (I didn't even realize Doodlecharms had that envelope on it.

I did the same thing to this basket as I did the first.

Tag Booklet

Here is another little project from the Scor-pal's website by Valerie Stangle , http://scor-pal.com/projects3/index_files/Page319.htm, it's a very cute project. I had just received my SU tag corner punch so I wanted to try it out and I thought this was the perfect project.

Double Criss Cross Pocket Card

I seen this card over on the scor-pal's website by Cary Eldred, I think it is just the prettiest card, she did such an awesome job on it. I want to try and make one. Here is the link to Cary's tutorial, http://scor-pal.com/projects2/index_files/Page705.htm. I would have to say this is one of my favorite cards to make.

St. Paddy's Day Card

I bought some UTEE, (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamels), and wanted to try it out. I used it on the gold and on the shamrock which I coated 3 times to get that hard plastic look. I really like how it came out. The Shamrock and pot of gold came from PDDU cartridge and I got to use my new SU border and corner trim punch and ms doily lace border punch.

Gone Buggy Wordbook Finished

Well, I still have to add photos, but a least the pages are embellished. I had a lot of fun doing this book, I did a page or two each night participating in Kathy and Samantha's nightly challenge over at the cricut messageboards. I used a lot of different cartridge throughout the book, but the main character is the caterpillar from Stretch Your Imagination, I love this cartridge, seem to always use it. I posted the cut file of just the book last year, I"ll put a link here also. I cut out each page of the caterpillar and trim off the extra pieces of his body. This way a piece of his body is on each page and when closed it shows all of him.

Caterpillar is from SYI, Letters are from PS.

Here is the cut file for the wordbook: http://www.mediafire.com/?3fzmmtqmjjy

Bees and Hive, WIMG.

Ladybug, WIMG and Grass, ACY.

Crickets, SYI and Ladybugs, Paisley, the Grass I believe is from EDPD.

Fireflies, bottle and tall Spider, SYI, Little Spider and Web, PDDU.

Ants I downloaded from Okieladybug's blog, she made them with George, awesome aren't they! Here is a link to her blog where you can get them, http://okieladybugsscrapnmore.blogspot.com/search/label/Ants
Watermelon, Doodlecharms and Tag and Holder, TBBM.

Flowers, WIMG and Caterpillar, SYI.

Sunflower, WIMG and Snail, Paisley.

Quick No Glue Box Cut File

I created this in Design Studio using the double tags in Plantin Schoolbook, I just criss crossed them and welded, very quick and simple. The heart came from Doodlecharms, but you could use the heart from PS, I just think the Doodlecharms heart is adorable, plus I just got the cartridge for Christmas and have been exploring it. At the top of each tag I punched two holes and threaded the ribbon around all 4 tabs and tied a bow. The only glued piece is the little frame around the heart, but the box is really just held together by the ribbon. Just put some candies in tissue paper and put them in the box and tie the ribbon, that simple!

Scor-Bug, Paper Distressor and MS Button Punch

I bought three new tools that I wanted to try out, the Scor-Bug , Tim Holtz Paper Distressor and MS Embossed Button Punch. I think I'm going to like these tools alot. The Score-Bug, by the same people who make the Scor-Pal, creates little embossed bumps on one side and dents on the other, which you can turn into stitching. The Paper Distressor creates ragged edges to give your paper a distressed look. MS Button Punch is adorable, it creates an embossed button, almost looks real. I"m punching buttons galore!! On these two cards I distressed all the edges and I used the score-bug for the stitching effect rather then the embossed bumps. I used Sweet Treats Cartridge for one layer of the flower and for the button I used my new MS Embossed Button Punch, love this punch! I created the pocket with George and Basic Shapes, the hearts came from the Doodlecharms Cartridge.
